The new product from Apple which was originally named as iPhone OS 4 has been renamed as iOS 4.The much awaited iPhone from Apple has been released by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, the details of which was presented at a conference in San Francisco. Steve described the technical details of the phone which says that the device has a 3.5 inch screen with 960×640 resolution with 360 dpi. It has both front and back camera and the newly added LED flash. It allows video chat which the Apple terms as “video chat”. It supports 2G network of GSM and 3G network of HSDPA, weighs 137 g ,no provision for card slot, supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, the processor is the Apple A4 processor, no radio, it has a talk time of 14 hrs(2G) and 7 hrs(3G),standby of 300hrs(2G/3G),supports GPS, it plays music up to 40 hrs. The device is available in black and white colors.
One would have been eagerly waiting to know if the front end camera was a reality ever since it was announced. But the good news is that it is in fact a reality and to the surprise of many the device does have many more features. Firstly, the design is totally new covering the entire body with stainless steel which also acts an antenna for BLUETOOTH, GPS, GSM, Wi-Fi. The Apple iPhone is very thin, its just 9.3 mm, the camera and LED flash are at the back. The two microphones have been embedded to cancel the noise.
The main feature of the new device is the term “Retina Display” as coined by the CEO of the company. Normally, human eye can distinguish pixels between the ranges of 10-12 inches if the screen has 300 dpi and since the device exceeds this, the term “Retina Display” came into picture. It also has a very sensitive gyroscope in addition to the accelerometer which gives the user a 6-axis motion sensing.
The “Face time” enables the user to communicate with others using the video calling but only through Wi-Fi. Apart from these added features, the multi tasking has become easier, it has the unified inbox, conversation threading and several other features which the user will be extremely happy to use. Though the Google is set as default, one can always use yahoo or Bing according to the convenience. The cost of the new device is $299.So, let us see how Apple ‘s new product fares .
