THE PRACTICAL PERSPECTIVE
Overall review.
Give the drive a specific job
A useful travel backup is more than an extra device in the bag. Decide which folders you will copy, when you will copy them and how you will check that the files open. If the drive holds the only copy of a photo collection, it is storage rather than a backup. A second copy in another location gives the setup a clearer purpose.
Plan the connection before the trip
The supplied cable connects to a USB-A computer port. A laptop with only USB-C ports may need a compatible adaptor or hub. Do not assume this computer-oriented drive will work directly with the Galaxy phone or tablet: host support, power, cable and file-system compatibility all need checking. Copy a small test folder through the complete setup before relying on it away from home.
Choose an HDD with its use in mind
An external hard disk is a different proposition from a portable SSD. Compare the complete carrying setup and the transfers you actually perform, rather than treating the USB interface name as a measured file-copy speed. Use a stable surface during transfers and pack the drive carefully. We have not measured sustained performance, noise or durability on this model.

THE TAKEAWAY
Our assessment.
Consider it for a planned laptop-based storage and backup workflow. Confirm the 2TB STKM2000400 model, connections and format, and keep irreplaceable files in more than one place. Transfer speed and practical handling still need documented hands-on testing.
Provisional assessment · Hands-on testing pendingWhat we still need to test.
These checks will help turn the initial assessment into a hands-on review.
- A mixed-file copy with a documented computer and USB port
- Reconnect and file-opening checks after transfer
- Fit and cable strain in the intended desk or travel setup
